Overview

What is Whimsical MCP Server?

A third-party Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that lets you create Whimsical diagrams agentically by integrating with Whimsical’s API. It accepts Mermaid markup generated by an MCP client (e.g., Claude, Windsurf) and returns both a Whimsical diagram URL and a base64‑encoded image so the client can iterate on the original markup.

How to use Whimsical MCP Server?

Install automatically via Smithery (npx -y @smithery/cli install BrockReece/whimsical-mcp-server --client claude) or manually by cloning the repository, installing dependencies (yarn install), and building (yarn build). Then add a mcpServers entry to your MCP client’s configuration pointing to the built dist/index.js file.
